Especially in the Kompong Chhang province, people make palm-sugar out of the fruits of the palm trees. It is not as sweet as normal sugar and tastes a bit like caramel. Palm-sugar is perfect to create delicious sweets. So you should buy a package, when you are in Siem Reap. Just say Skor Tnout in Khmer and the locals will understand you

Several other products, which come from Cambodian palm trees

The fruits are also used for sugar-palm wine, and trees are used for building boats. The tree branch is good for the roof of a home and the roots are used for things like toys for children.

If you want to know more words in Khmer, which are useful for your trip to Cambodia, stay tuned to our Khmer-App. It will be available this autumn.
