Finally, and very tired we arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia. After an extensive rest in the morning we had our first real meeting with all participants of the iiCamp.
The Breakfast Game
Food is very important and every culture has a different way to do it, whether the ceremony itself or even the food. Similar to the game: “What to pack in my suitcase” , everyone had to tell his or her name and what he or she had for breakfast in the morning and even had to remember what the predecessors had for breakfast. This is really fun, because after a while, you had to know everybody’s breakfast.
Who would have thought that it is typical in Cambodia, to eat noodles for breakfast .
Never show his or her foot on another
Interesting to note that Cambodians really pay attention to the fact that her or his sole of food not point to someone else. So all sat in a circle and not a single sole of foot could be seen. In general, sitting on the floor, normal for Cambodians – were initiated by the German participants. Exciting, especially against the background that sitting on the ground in western countries will be expected more for the alternative scene ,while in Cambodia, in turn, this means respecting the local culture.
